This is my block – Apron Strings!
I like to make quick projects for gifts or just to have around my house.
The topper below has one block and three borders added to it.
- Border #1
Cut (4) 2″ x 12.5″ yellow strips and (4) 2″ blue squares.
- Border #2
Cut (2) 2″ x 15.5″ red strips for the sides and (2) 2″ x 18.5″ red strips for the top & bottom.
- Border #3
Cut (2) 4″ x 18.5 blue strips for the sides and (2) 4″ x 25.5″ blue strips for the top & bottom.
Cut (3) 2.5″ strips from a contrasting fabric.
- Sew the cornerstones to the ends of two of the yellow strips. Press toward the strips.
- Add the side borders first, then the top and bottom. Press toward the border addition. Do this with the red and blue borders.Layer, and quilt.
- If you wish to add some interest, cut the corners off at a 45° angle. Bind with a contrasting fabric. I think the red makes this pop!
- The topper finishes about 25″ x 25″
Now for the fun! Quiltmaker magazine is giving away an issue of Volume 7, I have an extra that I’d like to pass on to someone as well. Plus there might be a few patterns thrown in too!
Leave a comment about your favorite way to personalize your projects. Doesn’t have to be anything big or fancy. And if you sign up for the newsletter, I’m doing an extra drawing for subscribers. If you are already subscribed, mention that in your comment so you can be included too!
I will draw names from comments and subscribers after midnight on Friday May 3.
I’ll announce the winners on Monday May 6th.
Thanks for all of the support, I appreciate it a lot!
