I think I own at least one of every brand of ruler on the earth. I am obsessed with them! But where do you start? When working on a project, I like to use rulers that are the same brand. The differences between the measurements from one ruler to the next are miniscule; how you use the ruler, the line thickness, etc. can vary.
It’s just me, but I like to keep the same together.
My favorite brand is Olfa’s Frosted Advantage ruler where the entire back surface of the ruler is lightly frosted. This helps reduce slipping.
What rulers should you have to start with? Personally, I recommend these three:
a 6-1/2″ square, a 6″ x 12″ short ruler and a 6″ x 24″ long ruler.
Other excellent brands are Creative Grids or Omnigrid. Ask for them at your local quilt shop!
