Perkins Dry Goods

Designing and making these little quilts was the most fun I’ve had in awhile.  Plus I love this fabric line – it’s Simple Pleasures from Moda.  This is a one block quilt that can be done with scraps, or you can plan your fabrics.  There is an opportunity to make bonus half-square triangle units to use in another project too!

Twelve Oaks was inspired by Judie Rothermel’s recent fabric line from Marcus Fabrics by the same name.  I love the pops of blue among the browns, reds and golds in these prints.  Two-block quilts are a favorite of mine, the secondary patterns that come out are always interesting!

I am pleased to be able to start showing you what I’ve been up to all of these weeks of silence!  I have a new book that is now available.  It’s a project book that can work as a block of the month.   There are four size options that you can make with the twelve basket blocks. I love baskets, don’t you?

My long absence from blogging has been filled with lots of interesting stuff, to me anyway!

February and March included birthday celebrations for my son, my husband, my father-in-law (who celebrated 80 years!) and my Mom. Spring break for my older two children, which came and went way too fast. And coming up, another spring break for the last child at home….

It also included many hours of sewing on new projects for Spring Market…. I can’t show you detailed pictures quite yet, but these are the things that are coming:

Abundance – A new Block of the Month project book featuring 12 different basket blocks and four projects.

Chatterbox – A topper, runner and trivet pattern. I can’t wait to show you!

Twelve Oaks – another traditional design with stars and multiple sizes.

Cotton Candy and Hopscotch – Two new Just for Fun! patterns that are darling runners.

This is a favorite time of year for me.  I love the Minnesota State Fair!  I’m sure you have things like this where ever you are from.

Most years we go as a family – teenaged kids and all.  We eat ourselves sick on anything and everything, especially stuff on a stick.  There are certain things I like to see each year at the fair.  I love going through the Fine Arts building and looking at the quilts and all of the other fabulous needle craft items.  The Grand Stand is where there are hundreds of vendors selling amazing magical things and Heritage Square is where there is a quilt shop booth!  YES… A QUILT SHOP AT THE FAIR!!

Rosebud’s Cottage has been at the fair for several years now and it is always a treat to stop in a say hi. Check out Roseann’s blog to see all the preparations.  I’ll be hanging out with Roseann in her boothThursday August 27th about 5:00 – stop by and say hello! Here’s a link to a map, she is in Heritage Square.

I have been busy working on a few new things for Fall Market….this is a sneak peek at a tote bag that will be released in October…stay tuned!

The minute we finished the blog hop, I got on a plane to California to visit family…it was a lovely vacation, way too short!

Now I’m back and have been working hard to finish a project that should have been done for Spring Market…..here is a sneak peak:

It’s  a  darling Tree Skirt pattern called “Under the Tree!”  It should be available within the next week or two. I made it in two sizes, one for a table top tree and one for a living room sized tree.  Stay tuned!
