Hopscotch is kind of an addictive little pattern, a new design in the Just for Fun! group. I made this one from a Crazy Eight charm pack – a darling Christmas line from Sandy Gervais. Maybe you have one or two charm packs stashed away waiting for the perfect project?

Designing and making these little quilts was the most fun I’ve had in awhile. Plus I love this fabric line – it’s Simple Pleasures from Moda. This is a one block quilt that can be done with scraps, or you can plan your fabrics. There is an opportunity to make bonus half-square triangle units to use in another project too!

Twelve Oaks

Twelve Oaks was inspired by Judie Rothermel’s recent fabric line from Marcus Fabrics by the same name. I love the pops of blue among the browns, reds and golds in these prints. Two-block quilts are a favorite of mine, the secondary patterns that come out are always interesting!

The minute we finished the blog hop, I got on a plane to California to visit family…it was a lovely vacation, way too short!

Now I’m back and have been working hard to finish a project that should have been done for Spring Market…..here is a sneak peak:

It’s a darling Tree Skirt pattern called “Under the Tree!” It should be available within the next week or two. I made it in two sizes, one for a table top tree and one for a living room sized tree. Stay tuned!

I will be drawing for a free Under the Tree! pattern from comments made in the next 7 days….don’t miss this chance!

Ok, I saved the best for last. And I hope I’m not overwhelming you all with these posts!

I have been working hard on all of these new things and can honestly tell you that it was worth it – thank goodness my husband does all the cooking around here!

Two more additions to the Just for Fun! pattern series. These little patterns retail for $6.00 and will be available in quilt shops and on my website soon!

Four Patch Topper is charm friendly, no border fabric required and a quick technique for those Y-Blocks makes this design a winner.

A secret about Fortune Teller is that there is not one single triangle in the project (except the big ones in the corners!). Super easy, super quick. Charm and Layer Cake friendly too!

This year has been a busy one for Perkins Dry Goods and I am happy to show you some of the new things that will be introduced at Quilt Market in Pittsburgh!

This new Just for Fun! design is just that – fun! It goes together quickly, and I think makes a statement as a wallhanging or table topper. Medallion Star will be available from quilt shops and on my website after May 18th.

Quilt Biz

I was just over at Pat Sloan’s blog reading about the business of quilting. I thought she did such a great job of describing things that I wanted to share the link. Click here to go to Pat’s blog.

That got me thinking about where I started with all of this Quilt Biz too. I had dreamed of working in a quilt shop but with a day job and little kids, the timing was always off. Evenings and weekends were family time, and also the most common times that shops needed help! One day in August of 2000, I was talking to Wendy Fedie who owned the Wayzata Quilting Emporium. She offered me the chance to try my hand at teaching a quilting class. A one or two session class I could do, even if it were an evening or weekend. That was the beginning of it all and that’s where my Four Patch Fancy pattern came into being – as a class called Table Runner Basics. It is still a popular pattern!
